EA cuts about 400 jobs and shuts down BioWare, cancelling the new Mass Effect

EA announced layoffs of about 400 people, roughly 3% of its workforce, and the closure of BioWare, affecting about 50 staff at the studio. The new Mass Effect, still in early development, has been cancelled, along with a Sims project codenamed Project Lotus, while Project Evergreen is prioritised. EA said it will keep investing in sports games, Apex Legends, the next Star Wars Jedi game and an Iron Man title, and skate continues with a smaller team.
