Hellraiser: Revival Is Gross Enough To Save Games As Art

Hellraiser: Revival, developed by Saber Interactive, is an action game that follows protagonist Aidan Lynch as he tries to save his girlfriend Sunny from the extra-dimensional Cenobites, with original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley returning to voice the role. Executive producer Nenad Tomic said Clive Barker was deeply involved with the game from the very beginning. The author argues that in an industry eroded by layoffs and live-service shooters, this deliberately off-putting, gore-soaked game proves that AAA games can be art.
