Nintendo Wanted to Remake Ocarina of Time to "Trigger New Insights" for Future Zelda Games

In the latest Ask the Developer interview, series producer Eiji Aonuma said part of the reason for remaking The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was to "trigger new insights" that could carry into future Zelda games. He noted many current team members have only worked on recent titles, and rebuilding the game as a full remake could help them learn its structure and development style. The interview also revealed the remake was developed internally at Nintendo, with HokWai Ng as director.
