EA shuts down BioWare after more than three decades, ending early development on the next Mass Effect

EA confirmed it is closing RPG developer BioWare and ending early development on the next Mass Effect project. In a statement on its website, BioWare said the studio was founded in 1995 and worked on series including Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age. Bloomberg reports the closure is part of EA cost-cutting that eliminates 400 jobs, roughly 50 at BioWare, as part of a plan to save up to $700 million.
