Itch.io says daily game page creation doubled in two months as AI games flood the store

Itch.io said the number of game pages created per day doubled over the past two months, with a chart showing a rise from 3,000 on a day around August to nearly 8,000 in October. A site representative did not directly attribute the rise to generative AI but replied to such questions with emojis, and clarified that downloads and purchases have not doubled. Filtering with the No AI button cut store results from 1,772,099 to 432,180, and the AI disclosure tag is optional when creating a page.
