Jason Schreier reports why EA shut down BioWare, choosing Star Wars over Mass Effect

Jason Schreier reported in Bloomberg that EA executives weighed Star Wars Battlefront III and the next Mass Effect, both projected to cost hundreds of millions, and chose to invest in Star Wars, shutting down BioWare as a result. Battlefront III has not begun development, but executives saw it as a less risky, more predictable bet than a new Mass Effect. The report also cites BioWare's recent poorly received games and Dragon Age: The Veilguard missing sales expectations by 50%, with corporate politics possibly playing a role.
