Statistics show nearly half of new Steam releases in October disclosed generative AI use

Statistics from Reddit user ploz show 49.9% of new games released on Steam in October disclosed using generative AI content, the highest single-month figure and about double the 26.4% a year earlier. Since Valve introduced its AI disclosure policy in January 2024, the share has risen from 1.7% to 40.1% so far in 2026. Smaller games and prolific developers disclosed AI use more often, art assets accounted for 63% of disclosures, and disclosed games averaged a 77% positive review rate versus 83% for those without disclosure.
