Side Expands in China With New Chengdu Studio and Acquisition of Art Outsourcer Roboto Entertainment

Services provider Side has expanded its presence in China by opening a new studio in Chengdu and acquiring art outsourcing provider Roboto Entertainment. Roboto, founded in 2014 by Andrea Cordella, specialises in environment and world-building art for AAA and AA console and mobile games, and Cordella will serve as Side's global head of art and studio head for the Chengdu office. Side CEO Deborah Kirkham described the acquisition as a double-down on a winning regional strategy, with the Chengdu team collaborating closely with Side's Shanghai location and teams across the Americas, EMEA and Asia.
