After closing BioWare, EA outlines its next chapter with a narrower focus on shooters and sports
With BioWare dead, EA lays out its 'next chapter,' and it's pretty much as predicted: Guns and football are fine, and everything else is under the microscope
Following the closure of BioWare, EA published a lengthy post outlining its next chapter, centered on doing fewer things with fewer people and focusing on its biggest franchises. Shooters get more Battlefield and Apex Legends plus a collaboration between Respawn and DICE, while EA Sports continues EA Sports FC, adds a new American football game codenamed Project Gridiron and brings back Fight Night. The Sims continues but Project Lotus is paused, the Skate team is being cut, and EA confirmed it will not move forward with the small BioWare team's early-development Mass Effect work, closing the studio and its Edmonton workspace.
