Rockstar Co-Founder Dan Houser Blames Himself for Max Payne 3: "A Large Amount of That Failure Was on Me"

Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser said in an IGN interview that he blames himself for Max Payne 3's failure, calling it "not a success" and saying "a large amount of that failure was on me." He acknowledged the game's lower sales, which publisher Take-Two said contributed to a $110m loss in that financial quarter. Houser, who was also the game's lead writer, said people really missed Sam Lake's writing.
