After Black Flag Resynced's strong sales, Ubisoft lays off 70 at its Singapore studio and closes Redlynx

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was a big hit, and now it's time for big layoffs at the studio that made it

Brief

Three months after Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launched, Ubisoft laid off 70 people at developer Ubisoft Singapore. The game sold two million copies in a day and three million in a week, surpassing annual expectations within two weeks, while support studio Ubisoft Barcelona also cut nearly a third of its staff shortly after launch. Ubisoft is also closing Redlynx, founded in 2000 and acquired in 2011, best known for the Trials games; a VGC report says the studio was not working on anything else and downsizing would not make it sustainable.
