EA Shuts Down BioWare, Laying Off About 50 at the Studio and Canceling the Next Mass Effect

EA plans to shut down BioWare, the studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect, laying off about 50 people there and 350 more elsewhere, roughly 3% of the company. A staff letter viewed by Bloomberg said EA canceled several projects, including the next Mass Effect, which was in early development at BioWare, and a Sims game codenamed Project Lotus. BioWare confirmed the closure on X, while EA said it will keep investing in Apex Legends, Battlefield, the next Star Wars Jedi game and a new Iron Man game.
