GTA 6 is deliberately avoiding direct political references, says Rockstar

Rockstar senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries said Grand Theft Auto 6 deliberately avoids direct references to real political figures, events or movements, so the game doesn't feel dated at release. Players will still encounter election signs, campaign robocalls and political talk shows on the radio, but the fictional state of Leonida is a distorted, satirical version of Florida rather than a straight recreation. Humphries noted it has been 13 years since the series' last instalment, and the long development cycle shapes what content stays relevant.
