D&D's Arcana Unleashed Officially Fixes One of the Game's Most Frustrating Problems

The new D&D book Arcana Unleashed introduces an Evolving Magic Item system that lets equipment increase in rarity and unlock new features as its wielder reaches important milestones, potentially turning an uncommon item into a legendary relic. Lead designer Amanda Hamon said the system is meant to spare players the choice between keeping a beloved but weaker item and switching to a more powerful one. It includes tables for Rare, Very Rare, and Legendary magic item properties that DMs can roll on or select from.
