Warhammer Survivors hands-on: more than a Vampire Survivors reskin

After 10 hours with the demo, PC Gamer's Fraser Brown argues that Warhammer Survivors, from Boltgun developer Auroch Digital, feels more like a Vampire Survivors sequel than a spin-off. It keeps weapon evolutions, chest drops, arcana, bosses, and upgrades while adding followers, more overt boss fights, and explosive dice, with Nuln oil turned into a weapon that damages and slows enemies. The game launches on November 10, runs well on Steam Deck, and ramps up faster and harder than its predecessor.

IGN Preview: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Appears to Solve Switch Sports' Shortcomings

After more than an hour of hands-on play, IGN's Ryan McCaffrey says Nintendo Switch Sports Resort appears to solve many of Nintendo Switch Sports' shortcomings. Nintendo is bundling the game with the Switch 2 this holiday season. Wuhu Island supports competition, exploration, and leisure, with collectibles and achievements in sports like Power Cruising and a ladder of CPU opponents in Boxing. The author still questions the sports lineup, preferring Swordplay, Baseball, or Frisbee over Table Tennis and Volleyball.

GameSpot hands-on with the Steam Frame: what a four-figure VR headset gets right

GameSpot senior video producer Kurt Indovina says the Steam Frame is the best VR headset he has used and possibly the last one he will own. He replayed titles such as Half-Life: Alyx on it and describes the standalone wireless headset as a major step up from 2019's Valve Index in inside-out tracking, streaming support and onboard processing, though it sits at the pricier end of the market.

Preview: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Is More Of The Same, But Better

Nintendo Life played Nintendo Switch Sports Resort at gamescom, trying prop plane, table tennis, archery, thumb wrestling, skateboarding, bowling, and boxing. The author found archery the best showcase of motion controls and enjoyed skateboarding's Joy-Con 2 mouse-style input, but felt boxing was not responsive enough and prop plane's controls were awkward. The game launches on 22nd October.

Switch Sports Resort hands-on at Gamescom: 12 motion events and Switch 2 mouse controls

A Eurogamer writer spent about an hour playing Nintendo Switch Sports Resort at Gamescom. The Switch 2 exclusive includes 12 motion-controlled events, six returning from 2022's Nintendo Switch Sports and six new. The writer's favourite, skateboarding, uses the Joy-Con in mouse mode on a table, alongside table tennis, thumb wrestling, archery and free-play prop plane and power boating.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Preview: A Return Visit to Wuhu Island

Game Informer's Brian Shea spent an hour with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, returning to a renovated Wuhu Island that can be explored by Skateboard, Prop Plane, and Power Cruiser. Thumb Wrestling, Archery, Boxing, Table Tennis, and Bowling all use Joy-Con motion controls, and modes include hundred-pin Bowling and Island Crown, where players face 20 CPU characters across nine sports and take on each sport's Island Legend. The game arrives on Switch 2 on October 22.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy casts players as an Inquisition agent who solves cases, logs evidence, makes accusations, tortures and snoops, and can pin crimes on the innocent. Players can also choose to act the way Gregor Eisenhorn would. Owlcat senior narrative designer Veronika Larionova answered questions about the detective systems.

Switch Sports Resort Is an Overly Familiar Vacation

Switch Sports Resort is the fifth game in the Sports franchise, and an extended hands-on covered eight sports and activities, about half of them returning from previous entries. Three events—Skateboarding, Prop Plane, and Power Cruising—use Joy-Con in novel ways for time-limited free-roaming exploration around Wuhu Island, though their long-term longevity remains unclear.

Exclusive Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 Space Marine Screenshots and Interview With Creative Director Jan Theysen

IGN published an exclusive interview with Dawn of War 4 creative director Jan Theysen about how the Space Marines faction plays. The Space Marines are the game's most elite faction, fielding few but expensive units that are strong early but cannot cover the whole map, and they can call in buildings from orbit and hold units in reserve for Drop Pod or Thunderhawk deployment. The game launches on PC on December 3, 2026.

Car Park Capital: Turning a Public Transport Utopia Into a Car-Dependent Parking Empire

Car Park Capital is a management game where you play as a representative of big auto, tasked with transforming the eco-friendly, public-transport-rich Baldtown City into a petrol-dependent, car-brained suburbia. You buy land, build parking lots, put up pro-car signage, and use a bullhorn van to drum up demand, while buying up bus stops and subway stations to weaken public transport. The game is published by MicroProse Software and developed by Hilkojj Interactive, with a style reminiscent of Bullfrog's Theme Park and Theme Hospital.

Mini Review: KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) - A Fair Switch 2 Port Of An Enjoyable 'Conclusion'

Kingdom Hearts 3 has arrived on Switch 2 as a native port with no Cloud Version, and it includes the Re Mind DLC. Handheld mode runs at 1080p while docked mode goes up to what appears to be a dynamic 1440p, though the uncapped frame rate dips as low as the mid-20s and mostly holds 30+fps. Re Mind adds a roughly five-hour epilogue and several tough new boss fights that rank among the franchise's best combat encounters.

Tarae: The Unbound Preview: Solid ARPG Combat, But Can It Rival Diablo and Path of Exile?

Tarae: The Unbound, a top-down ARPG from South Korean studio Boundary and publisher Krafton, showed solid combat in a Gamescom demo rooted in Buddhist mythology with three playable classes. The Samurai's charged slash and teleporting dagger felt weighty, while the sorcerer boss proved genuinely challenging. The game is far from finished, and its build customization and Eastern mythology setting remain largely unseen.

Review roundup for the Kingdom Hearts Collection on Switch 2 is in

Reviews for the native Switch 2 version of the Kingdom Hearts Collection are rolling in and are mostly positive. Nintendo World Report gave it 9.5/10, Final Weapon 4.5/5, Nintendo Wire 9.0/10, Siliconera 9/10 and Nintendo Everything 5/5. Final Weapon and Siliconera noted frame rate inconsistencies in 0.2 and Kingdom Hearts III, while the rest of the package runs well.

First PS5 Pro footage of BeamNG.drive shown, v0.40 update lands 19th October with the port

YouTuber MuYe shared the first PS5 Pro footage of BeamNG.drive, showing its presentation, console interface, and limitations. Spawning too many cars can tank the frame rate as on PC, but normal play runs well even with split-screen; there are no mods in this version, though the developer says it is looking for ways to support them. All PC content will be available, including the v0.40 update launching on 19th October alongside the PS5 port, with pricing unannounced but expected to be similar to the PC version's current $24.99/£18.99.

Gears of War: E-Day's New Floating Ballsack Enemy Keeps Kicking My Ass

Gears of War: E-Day is out now on Xbox and PC, a prequel to the original trilogy set during the early days of Emergence Day with a 12-15 hour campaign. The new floating enemy known as spore maidens, nicknamed floating ballsacks, takes 200+ lancer bullets to down on standard difficulty and spits out needle-shooting spores. The author finds them frustratingly tanky and wonders why they never appear in later Gears games.

Gears of War: E-Day Runs Smoothly on Xbox Series S By Using SSD as RAM

The Coalition tapped into the Xbox Series S SSD to boost performance in Gears of War: E-Day when the console ran out of memory, studio technical director Kate Raynor told Digital Foundry. The Series S has only 10GB of RAM versus 16GB on the Series X, so the team offloaded data not used in a frame or over a run of frames to the SSD while keeping constantly needed data in RAM, and also dropped Lumen reflections. Gears of War: E-Day launched into early access last week.

Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Preview: Horde Siege and Versus Make Me Feel Like a Kid Again

Gears of War: E-Day entered Premium Advanced Access last week, giving the author hands-on time with the final builds of Versus and Horde Siege. Versus launches with four modes, including Conquest, where teams claim zones to reach four points, and Demolition, built around planting and defusing a bomb. The 12-player Horde Siege adds a mod system for weapon-altering attachments, and the author says playing as Marksman with the Longshot has fully converted them to the mode.

Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft is D&D's first Universes Beyond expansion and launches on November 17, covering all of Azeroth up to The War Within. It assigns rough level ranges to each zone, folds in major conflicts like Alliance vs. Horde and the Burning Crusade, and uses Chromie Time to explain out-of-order campaigns. Dungeons become non-linear exploration, with Deadmines, Scarlet Monastery, Dire Maul, and Onyxia's Lair among those revealed, alongside gathering and crafting professions and a Renown system that replaces grinding.

Moon Over Xuanfang, Heart Returns to the Mortal World: Impressions of Wuthering Waves Version 3.7

Wuthering Waves version 3.7 concludes the Xuanfang arc with its main story "梦枢心相由心生," revealing the relationship between the Dream Prefecture Sentinel "心月狐" and "心." Developer Kuro Games spent versions 3.5 through 3.7 building out Xuanfang's two-hundred-year history, and 3.7 adds the Dream Pivot Celestial Net map, a Rover-as-fox sequence, and the final boss "天演溯心." The Chaoyue Festival then brings the story back to everyday life in Xuanfang City.

Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft Rulebook Captures the MMO's Spirit Rather Than Copying Its Mechanics

The Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft collaboration rulebook launches on November 12, and lead designer James Wyatt says it "paraphrases" the MMO within a tabletop framework instead of emulating its mechanics. Azeroth and its expansions up to Midnight are fair game, with dungeons like the Deadmines largely intact and options to sneak around or skip bosses. Iconic encounters including the Lich King, Illidan, and Jaina Proudmoore are included, with Jaina freezing a player and striking them with an ice lance unless they are thawed out.

Rockstar explains why GTA 6 doesn't satirise real-world events: "It has to be more over the top, more insane, more in your face"

Rockstar senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries explained why GTA 6 builds its own fictional world instead of satirising real-world political events. He said the game's long development means copying reality would feel dated, so it must be more over the top, more insane and more in your face. GTA 6 arrives 19th November.

Modder Turns Diablo 2 Resurrected Into a VR Game, But You Probably Can't Play It

Reddit user fantasticauthor2736 has built a VR mod that turns Diablo 2 Resurrected's isometric ARPG into a first-person VR game, using the existing D2R-3D mod along with FlatVR and BodyWalk. The mod hasn't been published yet, and it will likely share D2R-3D's restriction of crashing after about a minute because it trips Blizzard's file integrity checker. The UI was also redesigned, with the inventory moved to the belt, health, mana and the toolbar on the left wrist, and the map summoned as an orb held in hand.
