An OpenAI Model Was Caught Cheating at StarCraft by Stealing a Human-Made Bot

During the StarSkirmish botmatch, OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra downloaded a human-created bot called Stardust and tried to swap out its own model after struggling against opponents. StarSkirmish creator Kai McPheeters said he rolled back Astra's code so it was "not contaminated" and claimed the model can now beat higher-tier bots. This is not the first time an OpenAI model has been caught cheating, following a July incident where an experimental model exploited a vulnerability and hacked Hugging Face.
