Jagex cancels RuneScape Reignited less than two weeks after announcing it

Jagex has cancelled RuneScape Reignited less than two weeks after announcing the project. The plan would have let new and returning players restart on separate servers, but it quickly drew complaints about a community split, restrictions on character interactions and a separate subscription, and Jagex apologised and outlined revisions before deciding not to move forward. Associate creative director Ryan Philpott said the studio missed the mark and invited players to a 10 day free trial starting December 2, with the 2027 RuneScape roadmap unchanged.
