Final Fantasy VII Revelation Producer Yoshinori Kitase Hints Square Enix Is Interested in Movie Adaptations and New Games

Yoshinori Kitase, producer of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, said at Lucca Comics & Games Festival 2026 that games or TV series inspired by Final Fantasy's story "would be nice" in the future and that he doesn't see why it shouldn't be a possibility. He also suggested Square Enix is more likely to invest in new titles and new games, while leaving room for more remakes of old projects. The third and final game in the trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, releases on April 28, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
