Analyst Says Gears of War: E-Day's Strong Reviews Haven't Translated to Big Sales

Analytics firm Alinea Analytics estimates Gears of War: E-Day sold about 230,000 copies during its early-access period, roughly 168,000 on Steam and 62,000 across Xbox console and PC, with most players instead using Xbox Game Pass. The game launched Oct. 6 on Xbox Series X and PC and holds an 88 on Metacritic and an 87 on OpenCritic. Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott says it drew about 1.7 million Game Pass players, including an estimated 722,000 who paid $30 for the Premium Edition upgrade to play five days early, figures Microsoft has not confirmed.
