Former Epic Games Engineer Rails Against Valve: 'No Amount of Competition Will Ever Unseat Steam'

Former Epic Games engineer Kiaran Ritchie posted a lengthy critique of Steam, arguing that even an objectively better alternative store would hold no interest for Steam users, who would see it as a threat to their investment. He claimed Steam users actively denigrate competition, resulting in 30% of all gross revenue being siphoned out of the PC games industry. Ritchie also said that even a faster Epic Games Store client, which CEO Tim Sweeney recently touted, is unlikely to make much difference.
