Fallen London is where the writers of Baldur's Gate 3, Dishonored and Stellaris come to let their hair down

Fallen London's monthly subscriber-only Exceptional Stories are largely written by freelance contributors, including writers who worked on Baldur's Gate 3, Dishonored, Stellaris, Destiny and Borderlands 4. These self-contained monthly tales let each author tell a complete story, so their individual voices come through more clearly than in larger AAA productions.

Gears of War: E-Day devs on their gore investment, saying fans were getting desensitised to the violence

Eurogamer interviewed The Coalition art director Aryan Hanbeck, brand director Nicole Fawcett, and creative director Matt Searcy about Gears of War: E-Day's investment in gore. Hanbeck said the team felt fans were getting desensitised to the series' violence, so they aimed to make every kill feel more real, down to headshot audio, blood spray height, lingering mist, and body reactions. Searcy said gore was a huge investment and that each encounter was designed like a coiled spring. E-Day's first Season began with Early Access yesterday and runs eight weeks to 1st December, ranked PvP arrives 13th October, and general release is 6th October.

Love Magazine shared new screenshots and quotes from two writers, a Jason and Lucia mural appeared in Brooklyn, Rockstar partnered with the Miami Heat for a Vice City night on November 18, and the Game Informer cover story mentioned over 150 animal species, hurricanes and tropical storms, and legendary creatures to find.

End of Abyss Review: A Samus-Inspired Survival Horror Success

End of Abyss is a twin-stick survival horror game that blends Metroid-style exploration with tense combat, casting players as a technician entering an abandoned facility with soldiers and their captain. The review praises its winding map, scanner, and large-scale level design, but notes that boss fights drain ammo and grenades quickly, forcing resource grinding. The author also hit bugs including getting stuck in walls, invisible walls, falling out of bounds, map markers showing wrong states, and doors that would not open until a reload, though frequent saves limited the lost progress and several patches have already addressed some issues.

Final Fantasy Resonance's combat was an 'experiment' combining FF5's job system with FF6's unique characters

Final Fantasy Resonance's producer told Kotaku the battle system began with the idea of combining Final Fantasy 5's job system with the unique traits of Final Fantasy 6's characters, and that the team reexamined the stagger system. The game adapts the mobile title Brave Exvius, is co-developed by Square Enix's Team Asano in the HD-2D style, and launches on October 22. The team at one point considered cutting the series characters before keeping them as the equippable Visions summon system, spanning characters from the first game through Final Fantasy XVI.

4 Things to Focus on Outside Combat in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave puts heavy emphasis on out-of-combat activities, with shared meals at the inn raising support points for three characters at a time and weekly arena training that boosts weapon, magic, or movement proficiency. Renown is central to the game's loop and can be earned through subquests, paralogues, and temple visits, with paralogues rewarding 20,000 gold and unlocking recruits but having strict, unannounced deadlines. Each of the four protagonists also has a unique Renown source, such as Cai's kindness quests and Theodora's resource requests.

8 Things Final Fantasy VII Revelation Is Changing From The Original On PS1

Kotaku rounds up eight changes Final Fantasy VII Revelation makes from the 1997 PS1 original. The game will offer a true open world, though weather events and closed airspaces gate some areas, and Vincent and Yuffie's stories are folded into the main narrative with Vincent's Galian Beast transformation becoming part of his regular combat kit. Director Naoki Hamaguchi said Master materia will not appear because it would break the game, while Knights of the Round may become the game's superboss with its own storyline similar to the Gilgamesh questline in Rebirth.

My Patience With Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Is Wearing Dangerously Thin

After two weeks and thirty hours with Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the story and characters are the only things keeping me playing. Character progression and EXP grinding in part one feel tedious, while map exploration costs time segments and training is limited to once a week in the main city. Renown gates block map areas, and gathering supplies is the best way to earn renown in part one.
