An analysis by the game marketing blog How To Market A Game counts 470 third-party online game festivals around Steam, yet only about 31% of new games released since 2020 have appeared in one, leaving two-thirds with no access at all. The Wandering Village topped the list with 59 festivals, while Lost Twins 2 joined 35 festivals but drew only 53 reviews after launching last year. A YouTube channel was also reported to sell exposure, with a $2,228 package yielding just 1,622 impressions and zero wishlist growth.

Steam Machine handles Control Resonant capably, but promised Steam Deck support is a letdown

Control Resonant runs at a playable 40-50fps at 1080p on Medium settings on the Steam Machine, but struggles on the Steam Deck, where even the Handheld preset with FSR Performance rarely reaches 30fps. The game also has a 105GB install size and lacked public SteamOS hardware compatibility ratings a day before release. JSAUX's Prebuilt Steam Machine Faceplate Screens Arrive, Cheaper Than Valve's DIY Inkterface Build

JSAUX's Steam Machine E-Ink and Pixel Matrix faceplates are now on sale for $100 and $90 respectively, undercutting the $104.50 component cost of building a panel via Valve's open-source Inkterface project. Both offer performance monitoring, clock, weather, calendar and photo frame modes switchable in SteamOS quick settings, with companion software due via Steam from early October. The E-Ink panel refreshes only once per minute, while the Pixel Matrix trades detail for colour and retro charm.

Denuvo sues anonymous cracker voices38 over bypassing DRM on 26 games

Denuvo filed a DMCA complaint on 14th September in the US District Court for the Northern District of California against a person or group called voices38, accusing them of circumventing anti-tamper technology on 26 games including Black Myth: Wukong, Resident Evil Requiem and Doom: The Dark Ages. Denuvo does not hold the copyrights to those games and instead invokes the provision against bypassing digital locks, seeking damages and an injunction against removing anti-tamper software from any past, present or future game. Denuvo knows the cracker only through a Discord ID, a Reddit account and a few Steam profiles, naming the defendant as an unknown individual or entity alongside 10 other unnamed defendants; Torrent Freak suggests the filing is partly meant to let Denuvo subpoena Valve, Reddit and Discord for more information.

Why the publisher of Nintendo Life is launching a new PC gaming site, Steam Hype

Hookshot has launched Steam Hype, a PC-focused outlet dedicated to "what's hot and what's next" on Steam, marking its fifth site alongside Nintendo Life, Push Square, Pure Xbox, and Time Extension. The site emphasizes human-led curation and recommendation, with a monthly playlist of new titles and a weekly list of notable updates and releases, overseen by Damien McFerran and led editorially by Dominic Tarason. Hookshot CEO Dickens says the company's majority-independent ownership lets it expand while others contract, with a goal of breaking even within a year.
