Valve addresses Steam AI clones and extortion, saying a significant number of people are working on a fix

Valve's Tom Giardino and Marc Wilkinson spoke at Steam Indie Connect in Korea on October 27 about AI slop on Steam and threats telling indie developers their games would be cloned unless they paid. Giardino said he had not heard of the extortion cases, called them a matter for law enforcement, and advised developers to keep updating their games and build community rather than rely on a single mechanic. On last week's Next Fest, which had twice the demos of the previous event, Wilkinson said Valve is aware of the situation and a significant number of people are thinking about how to solve it.
