Frederik Wessberg's work-in-progress Seamless Landing mod for Starfield lets players descend from orbit and land anywhere, including on water, without picking a landing spot or watching a loading screen. It replaces the game's floating planet textures with 3D rendering based on Starfield's biome and surface data, using clouds only to mask the final cell switch. The finished mod will be freely available on Nexus Mods, with manual low-orbit flight or autopilot that lets you walk around the ship during descent.
The Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft collaboration rulebook launches on November 12, and lead designer James Wyatt says it "paraphrases" the MMO within a tabletop framework instead of emulating its mechanics. Azeroth and its expansions up to Midnight are fair game, with dungeons like the Deadmines largely intact and options to sneak around or skip bosses. Iconic encounters including the Lich King, Illidan, and Jaina Proudmoore are included, with Jaina freezing a player and striking them with an ice lance unless they are thawed out.
Bruce Nesmith, lead designer on The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, says he hopes The Elder Scrolls 6 adds boats and naval exploration, calling them a "natural" fit. He said a setting around Iliac Bay could open up seafaring mechanics, skill trees, unique creatures and spells. Nesmith added he would prefer the game stay above water rather than include underwater sections.
Fallout 4, the last mainline entry in the series, released in 2015, and Fallout 5 is likely still half a decade away or more since Bethesda first needs to finish and release The Elder Scrolls 6. PC Gamer reopened the Vault door to share more thoughts on the RPG series, from remastering the first two games to hardcore mode in New Vegas and the Amazon TV show.
