Rockstar development heads Phil Hooker and Aaron Garburt told Bloomberg the next Rockstar game will not take another eight years, unlike the gap between Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 6. The engine, tools, and team built for GTA 6 will carry over to the next project, cutting development time. Garburt said Rockstar overhauled much of its foundations for GTA 6 and won't rip it apart for what comes next, and the article also included two new GTA 6 screenshots.
In an interview, Rockstar revealed that GTA 6 was originally called Project Americas and covered big swaths of the country's north and south. The interview also addressed crunch, delays, and leaks.

Rockstar told Bloomberg that GTA 6 did not cost $1.5 billion to make, but it has not disclosed the actual development spend. The game is set for a November release, with preorders reportedly past 5 million copies and more than half a billion dollars, expected to reach 25 million preorders and $2 billion by launch day. Rockstar has not discussed an online multiplayer component for GTA 6, which is rumored to arrive in 2027.
Valve has officially discontinued the Valve Index VR kit and launched a 20%-off sale on its headset and controllers to clear remaining stock. The newer Steam Frame launched last month, and its memory-shortage-induced price hike hasn't stopped orders, with the waiting list now stretching into 2027. Launched in 2019, the Index's true legacy lies in introducing individual finger tracking.
In a wide-ranging Bloomberg interview, Rockstar revealed that GTA 6 was originally codenamed Project Americas and was meant to cover large areas of North and South America before being scaled down to Miami and its surroundings. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson took staff to Miami in 2015 for the first research trip, and the game was initially to be developed alongside Red Dead Redemption 2 before being pushed back several years. Rockstar grew from 2,441 to 4,711 employees across 12 offices, and publishing head Jennifer Kolbe said the company reflected on the crunch of Red Dead Redemption 2 and recalled calling Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick about another delay. GTA 6 is now due 19th November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, with a PC version reportedly due in Q1 next year.
Rockstar development leads Phil Hooker and Aaron Garbut told Bloomberg they are confident the engine, tools and team built during GTA 6 will let future games be made more quickly, going "more sideways than upwards" rather than taking another eight years. Garbut said the foundational changes are done and won't be ripped apart. The same report notes that Rockstar previously mobilized most of the studio, including senior leadership, to finish Red Dead Redemption 2, pushing GTA 6 back several years.
Battlefield 6's latest battle pass skins have drawn fan criticism over design flaws, including a soldier carrying five pistols and a patch that misspells "security" as "secuty." Some players now suspect the skins were made with generative AI, while others feel misled because DICE had said before launch that Battlefield 6 would not feature goofy, immersion-breaking skins. IGN has asked EA for comment.
Amazon is discounting several Magic: The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes products, including a Play Booster box down 28% to $147.95 from $209.70, or about $4.93 per pack. Three of the four preconstructed Commander decks are also on sale, with Avengers Assemble at $54.90, Doom Prevails at $67.38, and Fantastic Four at $44.99, while Wakanda Forever is not discounted.
Rockstar head of publishing Jennifer Kolbe denied a rumor that GTA 6 cost more than $1.5 billion to develop, in a Bloomberg report on the game's production, without confirming its exact budget. The report also says Rockstar now has 4,711 staff across 12 offices, up from 2,441 when Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in 2018, and notes GTA 6's standard edition is priced at $80 with the Ultimate Edition at $100 ahead of a November release.

References to another in-development headset with OLED panels, referred to as Plano, have appeared in the Steam Frame kernel source code. The panels are listed at 3552×3840 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, the same panels used in the Samsung Galaxy XR, though output resolution may be lower due to physical limitations of the Steam Frame's chip.

A player argues that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga trades quality for scale, with 1,200 Kyber Bricks spread across too many planets making collection feel like clearing a checklist. The game's 45 story levels cover nine films, yet many feel short or underdeveloped, the Battle of Coruscant isn't properly playable, and key parts of the Battle of Geonosis and Battle of Endor are missing. The player also says the class system makes many of the hundreds of characters feel interchangeable and that the game lacks character customisation.
Funcom CCO Joel Bylos said the Dune: Awakening team submits content to Legendary Pictures for approval via Jira, with a highly simplified IP oversight process, and that director Denis Villeneuve once worried the game's name was too similar to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Bylos said the biggest change in the game's update is the addition of a single-player mode, plus difficulty options, and the console version uses the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. He noted most of Funcom is still working on Dune: Awakening and the studio is not ready to develop a new game, arguing stylized art will matter more than photorealism.

Garry Newman, creator of Garry's Mod, apologized in an official blog post for the performance of Facepunch's s&box, saying he is ashamed and embarrassed by its reviews and that selling it as an engine and development experience was the core mistake. Since its April release, s&box has sat at 47 percent positive reviews on Steam with roughly 500 daily players, while Garry's Mod still draws nearly 30,000 concurrent players a day. He plans to bring the sandbox mode to parity with Garry's Mod and beyond with more NPCs, vehicles and first-class multiplayer, drop Facepunch's own backend for Steam Workshop, and move the game from $10 to free-to-play before the end of the year, with existing buyers receiving exclusive Steam inventory items.

Ubisoft has proposed closing its Finland-based RedLynx studio, affecting up to 52 positions and subject to local negotiation. RedLynx developed the Trials series and handled the Switch 2 port of Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft Singapore also saw 70 positions impacted, though Ubisoft said the studio remains an important part of its global production organization.
Rogue Factor's Hell Is Us comes to Switch 2 with a design that deliberately rejects hand-holding, encouraging players to trust their instincts and get lost. Set in an alternate '90s Hadea torn by war between the Palomists and Sabinians amid supernatural monsters, it makes a strong statement about humanity. The reviewer found the lack of a detailed map, unclear NPC cues, and Switch 2 performance issues like pop-in and frame drops made the experience frustrating.

CEO Asha Sharma pointed to games being rapidly decompiled and rebuilt to run on hardware they were never designed for, noting WebGPU is now approaching 90% global browser support. The announcement makes no mention of AI at all.
Rockstar debated how realistic to make GTA 6, at one point weighing whether players would need to grab a case of beer from a liquor store fridge and bring it to the counter, or visit a supermarket for sandwich ingredients. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, those decisions required guesswork because so much of the game was unfinished. By 2022 GTA 6 began to come into focus, with head of development Phil Hooker describing a period where things don't work but you see snippets.
Rockstar Games reportedly established an entire Los Angeles studio dedicated to creating NPCs for Grand Theft Auto 6. Development lead Rob Nelson told Bloomberg the team had struggled to hit its targets for the number of NPCs to be written and animated, calling the projections horrifying, and this was a major reason for the first GTA 6 delay. The studio is staffed with writers, producers, and directors focused only on the game's NPCs, while GTA 6 has been in production for more than eight years and moved from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 19, 2026.
According to a VGC report, Ubisoft plans to shut down RedLynx, the creator of the Trials series, and cut staff at Ubisoft Singapore, the studio behind Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The closure proposal could affect around 52 people at RedLynx, while Ubisoft Singapore may lose about 70 people; RedLynx is based in Finland, where Ubisoft must negotiate the proposal with employees under local labour law. Ubisoft had previously cut staff at RedLynx in October 2025 and told the studio to focus on mobile projects, and the company has not yet commented on the report.
